A double lumen endotracheal tube (DLT) is an endotracheal tube designed to isolate the lungs anatomically and physiologically. Double-lumen tubes (DLTs) are the most commonly used tubes to provide independent ventilation for each lung. Trifanz offer both left type and right type of double lumen endotracheal tube.

Product Introduction

Double lumen endotracheal tube can be used with anesthesia ventilator or ventilator for establishing artificial airway in clinical chest operation or critical patients with single lung and simultaneous or non-simultaneous bronchial intubation in both lungs.

Q: Should double-lumen tube be left or right?

A: A left DLT is most commonly used as it avoids inadvertent obstruction of the right upper lobe (RUL) bronchus that can occur with a right DLT. Right-sided tubes may be required for left pneumonectomy, left lung transplant, or when there are anatomical distortions of the left main bronchus.

Q: What is the difference between a double-lumen tube and a bronchial blocker?

A: The use of a DLT results in a low risk of movement after positioning, and allows for continuous positive airway ventilation to the deflated lung. A bronchial blocker (BB), a device which can be inserted down a tracheal tube after tracheal intubation, can also meet the needs of lung isolation.
